Last chance to save DNA

DNA is the pure essence of who we are. This infinitely complex structure holds every last detail about us, and the legacy we leave behind. Saving your loved one’s DNA ensures that a part of them will live on forever.

Four reasons to preserve DNA

So much more than a keepsake…
Unlike fingerprints, cremation pendants, and other traditional keepsakes, the DNA Capsule not only allows you to preserve the entire unique genetic “blueprint” of your loved one, but also to use the DNA any time in the future for genetic testing.
Uncover pre-existing health conditions
Was your loved one always at risk of developing cancer or heart disease? Find your answers with a post-mortem DNA health test, and learn whether others in the family are also at risk.

FAQs

Is this like 23andMe or Ancestry.com?

Due to the complex nature of processing post-mortem or forensic samples, commercial DNA labs are not able to accept samples other than saliva (from a living person). SecuriGene Labs is one of the only labs in North America that is certified to process DNA after death for health testing, ancestry testing, and home DNA banking.

Why can’t I just save some hair?

DNA degrades after death, and requires immediate processing to ensure its viability for testing in the future. While it may be possible to test degraded DNA for identification purposes, it is not possible to use degraded DNA for more complex tests, such as health analysis or whole genome sequencing.

Do I need to freeze the DNA?

No. Unlike traditional DNA banking that requires freezing in a lab, our patented technology allows you to store DNA at home in room temperature conditions.

How much DNA is inside each Capsule?

Each DNA Capsule can hold up to 30µg of DNA (enough to run over 1,000 standard DNA tests). After testing is complete, the leftover DNA can be sent back to SecuriGene for re-preservation.
